Challenge

When I came to work at Pyrus, the company already had a dark theme for the iOS application; it could be used in dark mode starting from iOS 13. After reviewing previous user surveys, I concluded that many users also expressed a desire to switch to a dark theme on Android

The challenge was creating a dark mode consistent across both platforms, iOS, and Android

Results

As a result of my efforts, the dark theme was successfully integrated into iOS and Android, resulting in increased user satisfaction and an overall better user experience. User feedback after implementation showed a positive change in their experience of the application, especially in low-light environments

Process

I used guidelines Human Interface Guidelines for iOS and  Material Guide for Android in my work. It details how colors and layers interact with each other in the dark mode

Organizing the UI kit

A UI kit significantly speeds up the work of designers and developers. Typically, it is assembled right after the approval of the visual concept, using several key screens of the application as examples. The UI kit includes:

• A color palette of styles for normal state elements, pressed state elements, colors for inactive elements, focused input colors, and so on
• Text styles
• All interface elements (buttons, input fields, list elements, blocks with headers, etc.) in various states
• A set of icons
